And says nothing...
Mr. Palmer, I know you're reading these threads. Come on, man. We're your base. Talk to us by OculusConfession in oculus

Not really. Don't shunt blame to other people, this is my call. I am not going to wax poetic about this, since I have done so in the past, but bottom-line: I won't give in-depth updates on any situation without knowing it is solid, true, and finalized. Until I can do so, the best I can do is remind people that I will get them information as quickly as I can.
On the rare occasions when things still change, even when they change for reasons out of my control, I get crucified anyway. Sometimes that means updates have to wait until things get locked down, and sometimes that means waiting a little longer to give everyone good info
EDIT1: Follow up
A lot of the anger, confusion, and misunderstanding could have been fixed if Oculus was concise and quick at communicating on updates, issues, and concerns.
I mean did you see how there was a rumor Italy would be delayed for Vive? Immediate response from HTC letting people know that is not the case. Oculus had to do the same, and they didn't.

concise and quick
That is like saying you would be happy with a car if it was the fastest and also the cheapest. Of course you would, but the two are completely opposed - concise and accurate information is rarely the fastest or first, especially when talking about a situation with so many constantly changing variable.
EDIT2:
Imagine how much more different this sub would be 1000s of people had rifts instead of the handful now. It might have been full of praise. Instead I think Oculus missed their opportunity for good press while they had a launch date advantage. Vive is shipping next week and I think they will steal all of Oculus' thunder. It may go down as a historic failing in terms of launches. This kind of reminds me of the Diablo 3 and SWTOR launches. Just a huge let down.
Not very different, apparently, because there are already many thousands of Rifts out there even at this early point, with more arriving as we speak. Remember that this sub is a tiny minority of the overall VR market - 70k is not even an accurate measure, considering how many subs are from old accounts or lurkers with no headset. The vast majority of people don't care about posting pictures or reviews of their new toy to an internet enthusiast group.

200% certain that however bad we feel, he feels worse. He may have made a lot of money out of this, but rift is his baby and he's obviously desperate for it to succeed.

Having said that, today I pre-ordered vive after seeing how the launch with rift developed and it didn't fill me with confidence in the oculus company.
I never had a rift order so I'm not a "Canceller", so don't anyone get their hopes up that I've freed up a slot for them! lol
Someone should tell the suits or lawyers (if above is true) that real people respond better to real answers, esp in the times of the internet. It's not the 80s anymore haha!

Guys, I'm so sorry for everyone waiting for their Rift. Man, this is devastating news. Let's all hope this situation is resolved ASAFP.
The DK2 removable lens seems like an awesome idea now doesn't it lol...Would have been an easy fix to send to the customers...
Perfect world it wouldn't have happened, but to be honest I'm okay waiting a bit longer for a better lens.
Or it's all complete bullshit. Many throwaway accounts have been debunked on reddit before, and we are on the cusp of April 1st.

But if they delay more then a month you are now entering the VIVE availability territory (May), and I am sure the Rift is great and all, but delaying it too much will make a lot of people switch over, especially if the VIVE launch is silky smooth...
Edit: And I think it started at 7 am PST
This can cause the company to take the hit with their customers, even when the fault was not theirs."
The speculation on that thread is that it's a payment processing problem.
If I was Palmer Luckey, I'd be raging at the delay, at the fact my customers thought I was at fault, and that they thought I was unwilling to be honest with them.
Later on VR-Researcher said "You underestimate scope of contract. And you assume shipping."
Or this could all be made up crap and shipping will continue on-schedule.
It does make for some good drama though.
