when I went from my dk2 to the cv1 the god rays were huge after a while of use I have adjusted to it and even thought there still there I don't even notice them. the more I used mine the less I noticed them 😉

There is no adjusting to godrays, you either have them badly or you don't. They aren't something you learn to ignore. Mine are horrible too. Fortunately, it only affects dark scenes.

I know what you mean. The quantum leap it was supposed to be was no more than a small step.
Most pre launch emotions were very unreal and led to disappointment for many of us.

The DK2 gave us hope that the CV1 would be the fix rather than just a small step forward. Maybe we were expecting far too much.
Youtube and local fanboys went ga-ga and way over the top in their excitement.

For me it was initially disappointing especially at the asking price but with the Oculus software now in what seems to be more experienced hands (red tint gone, etc, etc) we are slowly getting there?
Anyway, things seem better if not quite perfect.

mine are very strong yes you will learn to ignore in time. if you keep on looking for them your never going to ignore them. kinda like a dead pixel once and a while youll see it because you know its there but overall you don't look at it much

Also with mine when there is a light scene there looks like a smudge that gets illuminated, its not on the outside either, its a small misty section that follows you around on light scenes. It is 100% not on the outside of the lens.

In addition I knew from reading up and when I tried a set there would be some godrays but man o man these are really bad.

At the price they are being sold its really not good practice

What do godrays look like?  Mine has this kind of halo effect like when you are driving and you're really tired, there's a halo surrounding all lights on the road.  Is that what it's like?  Kinda feels like there's moisture on the lenses that needs to be wiped off...  Is that what they are because mine does that.  It was distracting at first, but I got used to it.  That's why I'm not even sure that they are godrays or not that I'm seeing.

@falken76  -  Yeah, that's pretty much it.  They're just rays of light that cast off of very bright objects when they contrast with darker backgrounds  (Especially those bright white studio logos people like to float in empty black voids).

I don't know about you guys, but I see "god rays" IRL in similar circumstances.  Streetlights and Traffic lights and car headlights all give off serious god-rays when I'm out at night, so the majority of the time when I see god rays in a game my first thought is "Wow that's some realistic lighting", not "What's WRONG with this display!?"

On a side note... DO the Vive's full-fresnel lenses (instead of hybrid-fresnel) prevent god-rays?  It's hard to tell, because most of the games showcased for the Vive are set in brightly colored cartoon worlds where you're never going to see something bright on a dark background to begin with.  Even on the Rift, games like Lucky's Tale and Feral Rites aren't going to have many incidents of God Rays, but in turn how does something like Elite Dangerous look on the Vive?
It's hard being the voice of reason when you're surrounded by unreasonable people.

Yeah, I see just as much if not more god rays IRL than in the rift.

The strap is REALLY annoying, look to the left or look to the right and it judders, everyone has noticed this also.

Mine does that a little bit, just not quite smoothly sliding.  Barely noticeable though.
