I just purchased the Oculus rift and I cannot get it to work. very upset at the price I paid for this. First the small remote, I could not get the plastic out to give the battery connection without taking the device apart. Also I was never told it would require a separate Graphics card in order for it to link to our computer. I need a number to call so I can talk to customer support.

You slide the back of the remote cover back like this = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5-AVJhCFfE

Did you research before buying ? did you run the oculus compatibility utility ? = https://support.oculus.com/1633938460220125/

What are your PC specs ?

Edit* There is NO customer support number, contact here = https://support.oculus.com/help/oculus/885981024820727/?helpref=hc_fnav
A PC with lots of gadgets inside and a thing to see in 3D that you put on your head.

Yes, the instructions to pull the plastic tab don't really work, you do need to remove the back.  Do you get upset at everything you buy that comes with batteries because you need to remove the battery cover?  Because you're not going to buy many things where that isn't the case.

Also I was never told it would require a separate Graphics card in

You would have been if you'd read the hardware requirements.

Both Oculus CV1 and Vive are not stand alone - you will need a video card as said on the requirements and as everyone else has said. IF you are looking for a hybrid VR - I would recommend getting Samsung VR instead as the price point would be either the same or just a few hundred more to get up and going.

That plastic tab thing is the only confusing part of the setup. It's confusing because you have to pull so hard and it almost seems like you are doing something wrong. I think I used my teeth to pull it out. I never removed the back and I was not aware that you could do this.

Other than that the setup is incredibly easy and professional.
