What Sunday conference are you referring to, as GDC takes place from Monday to Friday?

What Sunday conference are you referring to...?

Oh, @Storm_Cloud - were you not aware that OVR holds a media only event prior to the GDC?

On Sunday 2/26, members of the press are invited to attend a
full-day long set of demos of all the latest upcoming games, but we
can’t talk about them until Tuesday 2/28.

Ah right, thanks for that, will keep an eye out for the news, although no doubt there will be posts in here about anything significant.

I'm going for an announcement of free upgrade packs - they will be sending out 2 new 4k screens and magical lenses that increase our FOV to 143 degrees - FREE!

Palmer invented it all and is currently making them in his parent's cellar (basement).
Big PC, all the headsets, now using Quest 3

Ah right, thanks for that, will keep an eye out for the news,...

No worries - glad to bring this to your attention - seems much of the media has been sparse on reporting any news of late?

Some great looking talks:

The future of VR and mobile graphics

High quality mobile VR with Unreal Engine and Oculus

Success in mobile VR development

I'm selling my Rift to fund a Gear VR   😄

Big PC, all the headsets, now using Quest 3

The Mobile VR division (Oculus Texas) seems to be the winner!

The thought of mobile VR makes me sick without even wearing a headset. I sold my Gear VR months ago, I might just buy another one if this is going to be the future of VR - NOT

The "muddy water" that is mobileVR is an issue for me - the fact that some of the mobile smartphone VR systems are offering a poor representation of VR, and are treated by some as "the best VR is" seems to be dangerous, especially in light of the slowdown in interest in VR sales.

A hoped distinction between mobileVR and PC (high-end) VR never really materialized with the near silence from OVR regarding promotion and publicity. It is hoped obviously that with GDC and E3 new vigor will be placed on getting the message out regarding what is "great VR" (supporting new releases) and distances its self from just 360' viewing!

A need to define the experience, and manage expectations against the hype machine has always been an issue within OVR, and the move to splitting the company between PC and Mobile approaches feels more like a positioning strategy to combat the inroads that Google Daydream intends to make on the scene in the coming months.

GDC should mark the beginning of the new marketing strategy - we look forward to seeing the results.
