I would like to see the an option for a timer on the overall game use of the Rift (not counting Home or Menu use), when upon reaching the time limit the customer is sent back an empty home area with a message saying the time has expired. The on-going timer should be shown both in the home area and in the Oculus menu screen so one can see how much time is left at anytime. You could even go as far as have a non-intrusive 2 minute warning overlay somewhere in the corner of the display.

Very nice. It also restricts the menu options so people can't muck around with things.
When demo mode is ended, all your apps are still there!

When is a simple button to DISABLE ASW coming? It should not rely on using binds always!
Also when is a method to SELECT INSTALL PATH coming? I still use the old Runtime 0.7 install to avoid SSE4.2 Check, stuck to installing on drive C: but at least I can auto update.
This is taking way too long and further points towards your push for us to buy i5 and i7 computers when old quads do the job in most cases! This proves corruption within the industry and is sick.

You could select another drive at setup install time, that feature was added maybe last year.

I suscribe to the petition to add ASW and Pixel Density to Home. It's a feature which we need to be there almost from the start. Or at least, make the debug tool work for normal user accounts under Windows, I don't want to use my PC as Administrator :-((

EDIT: Please Oculus, compliment finishing features most users will be benefited before experimenting with some obscure ones. Thanks.

Yes. I agree. Adding a setting for ASW and Pixel Density to Home will be a nice feature

Perfect timing! I'll be having a few friends round this weekend who are more interested in games than experiences. Should make navigating the home screen a bit quicker for the first timers.

I saw a prompt to update drivers in Oculus and did not see this mentioned in the release notes. The only thing I was able to find driver-wise that was updated was the virtual gamepad adapter on 8/2, which I suspect was in this release.
@cybereality Anything you can add to that?

@saq I'm a little confused by what you are asking. In general, if your setup is working, I wouldn't worry about it. If you find something wrong, you can leave the public test channel and use the latest official build. Thanks.

@cybereality My setup is working great, 100% solid for months on PTC. BUT, if it stops working suddenly the same day I run an update (cough 1.11 cough), I would check the patch notes to see if there is anything I need to concern myself with. Maybe it is the update but the release notes contains instructions for me to correct the situation, or maybe its something else in the PTC and I should roll back out of the PTC. Or maybe it's not related to the release at all and I should look elsewhere for causes of my problems. If I had good information in the release notes I could get a better idea and accomplish more than just straight up guessing.

When the Oculus Update comes along with a prompt (in bright red no less) indicating some new driver/etc needs to be installed and it is not mentioned in the release notes, I've got to wonder what else isn't being mentioned in the release notes.

The point of publishing release notes is to let everyone know about all of the changes that were included in them, warts and all. It builds trust by being transparent. Failing to mention something that was a part of a release (especially if its something obvious, like a giant red YOU NEED TO CLICK TO INSTALL A NEW DRIVER) really devalues the release notes and works against the purpose of providing release notes in the first place.

Please Oculus, provide a rollback option. It's a little absurd that one can't do this, since every other component in my PC has this capability. Granted your updates have been working great for me but other have reported otherwise. A simply roll back option is needed. To many hardware configuration out there to not have this option. This isn't a console and it does look like your trying to go for a plug and play experience but this is very unlikely because we don't have the same builds.

Is there any technical information about the new support for stereo cameras?
i had the camera flip 180 issue on every static calibration i have done for mixed reality, i am pretty sure this is a problem with my camera I hope this update fixes that

Adding games back is currently broken, when will it be corrected?

I confirmed that the Demo Mode time limit works but it REALLY needs to just fade out, not do a hard cut with a half second of frozen headtracking.   And as suggested above, a visual overlay and maybe audible beeps indicating that time is almost up would be good too, just so that the user isn't totally caught off guard.

Also, i find it odd to see a promotional screenshot of The Climb while in Demo Mode while not wearing the headset. It sort of gives the impression that The Climb is going to be "part of the demo".   Is this something we can customize?

So if I want to publicly demo a rift, what's the process I would need to go through?

@ frank.marm Go to the Beta tab of the Settings then select Demo Mode. You can choose which apps to include in the Demo and a time frame.

This is probably mentioned ad nauseam somewhere else however I shall mention it nonetheless.  If you are using the public test channel when you first setup Startrek it prevents the required linking of your Oculus account and the Ubisoft/Uplay account (thus preventing the game being playable).  If you opt out of Public Test channel, set up Star trek and then opt back in once the accounts are linked it seems to be fine.  (I didn't work this out someone much more competent wrote about it here or Reddit)

Sorry, I should have mentioned that. There is a known issue with Star Trek and the public test channel, but we are looking into it. Thanks.

"You could select another drive at setup install time, that feature was added maybe last year."

I have a Quad Dual Xeon E5450 3GHz with GTX1080 OC2 and it runs Elite plus all released games easily and only struggles with Onward and Subnautica which I rarely bother with. I had to use Runtime 0.7 to get past your SSE4.2 checks introduced in RT0.8 which tells me my cpu is not compatible and would never allow it to even install. Do you even know your own software? This cpu check as I and others have already told you is baiting for sales. If you removed the check then many more users will buy your CV1. You behave like Apple and that is sick! Forcing new products for us to buy at a huge price!
Respect my wish and remove SSE4.2 cpu checks, add in a folder destination in options (ofcourse I know the latest install gives it but is still then fixed yet I can not access this!) PLUS add the DISABLE ASW. Also tell Google to get Voice Search for crying out loud!!!!
