Hey there,
Just wondering if anyone has managed to get Oculus working with UE4 under linux. There's a 4.7 distro that enables the VR Preview mode but the publish option doesn't work due to some linking errors.
Has anyone gotten this working? If so, would he/she/they like to help me get it up and running?
Thanks,
Ozz

3dluvr did have a branch called 4.7-linux-ovr, but I don't think that one ever worked properly, either. It hasn't been updated for a month.
Amigo, the owner of the repo where UE for Linux is being developed, had success with getting video to render on the Rift.
This is his branch: https://github.com/3dluvr/UnrealEngine/ ... -linux-ovr
It requires building libovr.a and putting it into the correct directory before building the editor, if you build it there will be an error that shows where it's looking.
There's a template to experiment: https://github.com/mitchemmc/UE4FirstPersonVRTemplate
Epic has an employee designated for integrating community linux enhancements and (possibly?) the plan is to pull in the linux branch when they release 4.8 but it might also be based on when the launcher is complete (dependent on the CEF3 browser?). Once that's done a Windows developer should be able to export a Linux game with Oculus Rift support.
That's at least in parts speculation, but I'll put it here for a lack of ANY actual information whatsoever from oculus nor epic.
So far you can see:
Unreal's 4.8 branch does not contain linux support for the oculus rift plugin: https://github.com/EpicGames/UnrealEngi ... ft.uplugin
There is a chance the unity plugin will be released with the next sdk release: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=21712&start=60#p258877
We can also forget steamvr for the time being:
Their unity plugin is only for windows: https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/32647
Their unreal plugin is only for windows: https://github.com/EpicGames/UnrealEngi ... VR.uplugin
