"VR Direct" is a term NVIDIA introduced in September at the time of the Maxwell launch. Very few details have emerged. We haven't worked with them on it. Today you can use the Oculus SDK to render directly to the Rift with correct stereo, lens distortion, chromatic aberration, and just-in-time TimeWarp with very low motion-to-photons latency.

The Oculus SDK works the same way with all graphics cards. Right now we do not have special codepaths or shaders for any particular graphics card or vendor.
